SOMEHOW

It was all somehow
Wine and sushi and sunflower seeds
40 dollars in gas and a hundred kisses
Later down 16st in an all night rage
If only I could pawn memories
As turquoise banged silver into a nail
Or a cross or a switchblade with your fast speech
Your sterling smile like a crazy chain on my neck
Hanging and blooming, swaying in a backseat
Bumping and banging down highways curved
Before I fell passed out in the front
Leaning on the back of the truck.
Hoping I don’t run out of hardcore luck
How much can I get?
How much should I bring to get it back?

With only All Green saying
Funny How Time Slips Away
Unknown to me until now
The perfectly placed hickey
Was all hardcore
On a slow arched neck
For a season and sign
Gone, wasted and worn
Like my love.

My love hanging out the window
My love and take-out Chinese
My love and radio dreams
My love like Bobby for Whitney
My love held up for ransom
My love built forever Ford tough.
My love now coming to a 4-way stop
My love tore into my mind
In sordid poems
With sacred text
Typed with hands of gold
Feet of brass
Sent in radio ocean waves
With every breath
Every message open ended
My love tore like paper
Bleeding in calligraphic ink
In perfect composition
Like God now resting
On his seventh day.
Drawing
To a close.
