Today via Twitter I created the phrase ” Decolonize Your Ego”.
The good folks at Decolonize Media retweeted it so much they created
this for us all as a reminder. Lets be real now folks.

I say: How are you going to decolonize the Nation(s)
When you can’t even decolonize your ego?
The ego of so-called tribal leaders is what often gets in the way.
People need leadership based on sacrifice not sell-outs,
selflessness not selfies and service to tribes not favors to friends.

I see the “Neo Noble Savage” making moves in the Pop Culture Industrial Complex.
Institutionally Racist media cannot tell our story. The Native Narrative belongs to Natives,
Not brands, fashion houses, filmmakers, studios, trends, museums or academia.

So let people know, that your tired of new & improved stereotypes because if you don’t,
They will return to take and take and take cultural &
intellectual property and content from your res, nation, barrio
and hood too.

Once I Was Lost But Now I See
Amazing Apache Grace Gospel Blues

In San Carlos AZ during wakes and pre-funeral, we often sing to bring peace, comfort and to send loved ones to a better place than here. Because ain’t no grave can hold this body down and reservation life ain’t easy either.

Udell Brown plays and sings like Chet Atkins. If you aren’t paying attention. You’ll mistake these Apache men for Muddy Waters and Willie Dixon, masters of the blues.
